This isn’t breaking news but it is surely under reported. In addition to under reported, it validates the disconsolate state of Liberty in America.
The allegations against the family:
• They sold one dozen eggs to an undercover agent
• They operated the Manna Storehouse without a retail food license
For these less than capital offenses the state of Ohio’s Heath Department, State Dept. of Agriculture and Lorain County Sheriffs raided this family’s home prior to Christmas 2008. To ensure the safety of the 12 armed men executing the raid there were three sharp shooters on the parameter to provide additional cover. According to the expired search warrant deputies were to seize money and bank accounts. The complete inventory from storehouse of organic foods, from a variety of suppliers, as well as their personal food stock, were taken as the terrified family watched.
For over six hours 10 children, toddlers, and a baby were held hostage at gun point, while the state authorities confiscated computers, food, money and other items.
Their home is not just the Manna Storehouse co-op for local organic food producers but also a home school as well. We should all be terrified by the extreme response from the state for the allegation of selling food without a license. There was no allegations of guns, violence or any other threat to society yet guns and violence is how the state responds.
Who are the criminals in this scenario?
What really shows the how out of touch our “protectors” have become from the concepts of individual liberty and constitutional protections is the Sheriff’s defense of the raid. In the video below he actually explains they made certain considerations based on their knowledge that there were children etc in the home.
CONSIDERATIONS?!
I guess the state no longer CONSIDERS just sending someone out to ask the family if they sold a dozen eggs? Or, if they understand that they need a license if they truly are a retail food seller.
Maybe right the family a ticket?
Nope, these are no longer considerations of our state thugs. When they come to ask they will come with guns drawn and steal property. The only consideration is how many armed thugs will they bring and what property they will take.
It seems that civil discourse between government agents and citizens are no longer a consideration. Assume the position my friends.
With a sad heart,
